SETI Beta Application/Optimalization

Fair enough,

I'm not in a hurry and understand some aspects releasing an application. There was an outdated scientific aplication running for 6 years, with a crippled code that made it running ineffeciently bringing no results. There is no point to rush a new application an one week or another makes no difference, so take the time needed.
It is a good idea to concentrate folks doing optimalization to one place.

btw, have you been discussing possibility that scheduler provide application version according to hsot scecification (e.g. CPU type, memory?). I known that CPU identification is far from perfect and doesn't bring the full information needed (e.g. instruction set capabilities such as SSE/2/3) but still...

Sorry I can't contribute much due to language restrains - both computer language need for application and german - none of it is fluent

It's a pain that application can't be normally downloaded.
There is a workaround by Josef that need messing with client_state.xml etc.
It's sad that no feedback from SETI team so far - I simple fix should do.

All results that ended up in something like 36k sec. were crunched using my first build of the enhanced app. 4.11.

The later ones with 26k sec. were using the new enhanced 5.0 version with some further tweaks.

System is a A64 3200+ 1mb cache @ 2.2 GHz.

The only problem is that all WU have not been validated because of the lack of other hosts cpleting them successfully.

Anyway it looks good so far.

I'm about 80% after 27 hours with official 5.00 version; true_angle_range 0.4258; AMD X2 3800+

Does it make sense to run 5.02 too or is there a chance to get your optimalized one?

First WU finish - about 121k sec on AMD X2 3800+ (33 hours); true_angle_range 0.4258

Well, this will take a while until WUs got validated - too much errors due to crippled download.
At least, download of official 5.02 version works fine

Look like optimalized version is way faster - perhaps in the same proportion as the outdated classic 4.11/4.18 where ratio 3:1 can be found...

13:00 for 2 WUs on my P4 3.2 with HT and the SSE2 Client
14:30 with my Athlon 2.500 Barton with the SSE Client
