Currently looking at Anthem Statement D2 Audio/Video Processor with PVA7 amp instead of future Denon receivers...

But not too happy with the idea of having processor chip (scalar) in blue ray DVD player or HD DVD player, TV and Audio/Video Processor...
But like the idea that D2 is upgradeable...see D1 to D2 upgrade or AVM50 to D2 upgrade...

I'm doing just fine with my PCs to bring HDTV on TV screen and even classic 5.1 audio via older Denon will do.
We only need to look for one of those soon-to-be-introduced 1 TB disks to backup our HD DVD content thanks to muslix64

Let's break it down:

HDMI 1.3 will provide support for Deep Color. TRUE. Buuuut.... nothing out there supports the color bit depth for Deep Color. Not BluRay. Not HD DVD. Not cable/satellite/OTA HD. There is no consumer video format which supports the Deep Color bit depths.

HDMI 1.3 will allow for transmission of Dolby True HD and DTS-Master Audio. TRUE. Buuuuut.... these formats can be decoded inside HDDVD/BD players and passed along to any HDMI 1.1 reciver via Lossless PCM. You're not gaining anything by decoding in the receiver. In fact, I'm not even sure that you could send TrueHD or DTS-MA straight to the receiver anyways. At least with HD DVD players, you have to add menu sounds, etc, which are added internally in the player at the PCM level.

So, I don't know why everyone is worried about getting the latest and greatest HDMI 1.3. You can't take any use of it this year. Or next. Or the year after next?"

Am I able to see 'Deep Color' on my 14-bit EIZO? Well, picture looks great via DVI - for standard quality nad HDTV as well.
Am I able to hear good 5.1 audio? Yeah, I can send it to SPDIF output and via optical cable to receiver. Or stay with old-good 6-channel analog (not perfect quality I know) but with all options of channel mixer, dynamic gain, equalizer etc. in AC3Filter, FFDShow and similar.

I may put a secondary LCD for movies later, but DVI will do. There is no reason for HMDI in my case.
All that money for all the troubles? No way...I know of better options where to put my money...
